Nicola is an Associate Professor at the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Pisa. He received a Ph.D. in Information Engineering from the University of Pisa and the Technical University of Pisa in 2008. His research interests focus on cloud computing, information retrieval, and machine learning. He authored more than 100 papers in peer-reviewed international journals, conferences, and other venues. In the past, he has been Program Co-Chair of ECIR 2023, Workshop Co-Chair of ECIR 2021, General Co-Chair, and Program Committee Co-Chair of the Italian Information Retrieval Workshop (IIR) in 2023 and 2015, respectively. He is a co-recipient of the ACM SIGIR 2015 Best Paper Award and the ACM SIGIR 2023 Best Paper Honourable Mention Award.
