Victoria Da Poian
Biography
Victoria Da Poian is a data scientist at the Planetary Environments Laboratory (PEL) at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC). Her research focuses on developing machine learning (ML) and data science tools for planetary science instruments in order to develop science autonomy for space missions. Victoria mainly works on mass spectrometer instruments such as the MOMA instrument (Mars Organic Molecule Analyzer) onboard the ExoMars Rosalind Franklin rover, DraMS (Dragonfly Mass Spectrometer) targeting Titan, and other ocean worlds (e.g., Europa, Enceladus) research projects. The tools she develops aim at supporting missions scientists’ decision-making process, making science operations faster and more efficient, and ultimately maximizing planetary missions’ scientific return.

Victoria Da Poian obtained her master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from ISAE-Supaero (Toulouse, France) in 2019, and performed several international internships (supporting robotics projects and developing ML algorithms). She is currently a PhD candidate at the Johns Hopkins University.
