Biography
Sambit Das is an Assistant Research Scientist in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at University of Michigan Ann Arbor, USA. His research interests are computational method development for accurate and large scale electronic structure calculations, high-performance computing, and electronic structure studies on defects in materials. Sambit is one of the principal developers of the open source DFT-FE code -- a massively parallel adaptive finite-element code for first principles based materials modeling using Kohn-Sham density functional theory. Sambit was part of the team that was nominated as a finalist for the ACM Gordon Bell Prize in 2019. Sambit received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering in 2019 from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA. He received his B.Tech. and M.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering in 2013 from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India. Sambit received the Beyster Fellowship in 2017 during his Ph.D.
