Biography
William Sands is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Delaware. Prior to this, he was a Peter O’Donnell Fellow with the Oden Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin where his work focused on numerical methods for the radiative transfer equation. He obtained his PhD in Computational Mathematics, Science, and Engineering from Michigan State University in 2022 working under the supervision of Andrew J. Christlieb where he developed new particle methods for the Vlasov-Maxwell system. He received BS and MS degrees in Applied Mathematics from the University of Akron in 2017. His research interests include numerical analysis, high-dimensional partial differential equations in kinetic theory applications, high-performance computing, and scientific software development.
