Biography
Dr. Maria Pantoja is an Assistant Professor at the Computer Science and Software Engineering Department at California Polytechnic State University. She has a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from Santa Clara University and a BS from Universidad Politecnica Valencia. Her primary research interests are in algorithm development and implementation for Parallel and Distributed Computing, also known as High-Performance Computing (HPC). Some of the most exciting work in Parallel and distributed systems is related to accelerating Machine Learning (ML) applications. With these expanded capabilities, Dr. Pantoja has pursued research in Artificial Intelligence (AI) related to accelerating video and audio processing and applying Deep Learning (DL) techniques to provide classification in complex, real-world problems and to understand the probabilistic limits of DL. She is the Lockheed Martin Endowed Professor.
