Biography
Carlos Puchol is the Principal Investigator for EUPILOT, a European accelerator, part of the EPI (European Processor Initiative) effort, focusing on High-Performance Computing and Machine Learning and AI workloads. He worked at Bell Labs researching formal methods for system design at Transmeta, a high-profile startup, helping design a very low-power VLIW x86 CPU and system power management. He became a senior architect at NVIDIA, leading power management efforts across platforms and chipsets. After NVIDIA, he was lead architect at Montalvo Systems, an x86 CPU startup acquired by Sun Microsystems. Carlos has extensive experience in software and hardware, from SW/HW architecture to system design. He graduated with honors in Computer Sciences and Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Valencia and has an MS and a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin. Carlos has over 20 peer-reviewed publications and holds 7 patents.
