Pavel Shamis
Biography
Pavel (Pasha) Shamis is a Distinguished Engineer at NVIDIA, specializing in optimizing Omniverse software and hardware stacks. With a background at Arm, he spent six years as a Senior Principal Research Engineer, co-designing software and hardware for large-scale distributed systems. Prior to Arm, Pavel worked for six years at ORNL, where he developed projects in high-performance communication domains. Earlier in his career, he led the Mellanox HPC team for ten years, contributing to the Mellanox HPC software stack. Pavel serves as a board member of the UCF consortium and co-maintainer of Open UCX. Notably, he has received the 2015 R&D100 award for CORE-Direct technology and the 2019 R&D100 award for the Open UCX software framework.
