Dr. Gabe Fierro is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Colorado School of Mines, with a joint appointment at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. His research focuses on the design and implementation of efficient systems for data and metadata management, primarily for cyber-physical systems and the Internet of Things. A major element of his research investigates knowledge graph design for enabling data-driven science in cyber-physical systems, and practical systems for managing and accessing knowledge graphs in these contexts. In addition, Dr. Fierro is a founder and the lead maintainer of Brick (https://brickschema.org), an open-source ontology for smart buildings enabling intelligent and portable data-driven applications. He is also involved in knowledge graph standardization efforts in the smart building and water treatment industries.
