Biography
Steven Hamilton is a Senior R&D Staff in the HPC Methods for Nuclear Applications Group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. His research interests include development of numerical methods for Monte Carlo and deterministic radiation transport, strategies for multiphysics coupling, and optimization of software for high performance computing platforms. Since 2017, Steven has been the PI for the ExaSMR project, one of the applications development subprojects within the DOE Exascale Computing Project. ExaSMR has been targeting the execution of coupled Monte Carlo radiation transport and computational fluid dynamics solvers for analysis of next-generation nuclear reactors.

Steven completed his BS and MS degrees in Nuclear Engineering at Georgia Tech in 2006 and 2007, respectively, and his PhD in Computational Mathematics at Emory University in 2011. He was a recipient of the DOE Computational Science Graduate Fellowship (CSGF) from 2007-2011.
