The George Washington University is a research institution of higher education. Interdisciplinary high-performance computing and big data science research and education in areas ranging from computational sciences and engineering to policy are of great emphasis. The university researchers have well known contributions to the PGAS and UPC programming models; high-performance reconfigurable and heterogeneous computing; photonic computing; graph analytics and large scale modeling and simulations. The university main supercomputer Colonial One has ranked number 7 in the small data category of the Green Graph 500 in 2019.
