Biography
Tanzima Islam is an assistant professor at Texas State University. Dr. Islam earned her Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from Purdue University and was a postdoctoral scholar at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). Broadly, Dr. Islam's research interests lie in leveraging data-driven analysis approaches to understand the scalability bottlenecks of HPC applications, and develop system solutions, where applicable, to mitigate them. Dr. Islam is a DOE SRP fellow and a recipient of the prestigious Science & Technology award from LLNL for scaling application I/O, specifically checkpointing phases, significantly for HPC environments. Her research in checkpoint restart received the 2020-21 R&D 100 award. Additionally, she is the co-founder of a research and mentoring platform in Bangladesh that works to broaden female students' participation from a developing country in Computer Science and Engineering.
