Biography
Marco Garten, a postdoctoral researcher in computational accelerator physics at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBL), focuses on advancing novel particle accelerator technologies through complex numerical simulations on world-leading supercomputers. He secured his Physics PhD from the Technical University of Dresden. Over a decade at Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden - Rossendorf (HZDR), Marco transitioned from student research assistant to key contributor, becoming a maintainer of the Gordon-Bell finalist code, PIConGPU. He spearheaded a Tier-0 PRACE simulation campaign on laser-driven ion accelerators, implementing advanced multi-physics models. Recently, he joined the WarpX team, renowned for clinching the 2022 Gordon-Bell Prize.
