Biagio Cosenza
Biography
Biagio Cosenza is a tenure-track assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Salerno, Italy. He joined the University of Salerno in August 2019 through a national brain gain program (Attraction and International Mobility), and received the Abilitazione for Italian Associate Professorship. From 2015 to 2019, he was Senior Researcher in the AES group (headed by prof. Ben Juurlink) at the TU Berlin, Germany, where he was Principal Investigator for the DFG project Celerity and received the Habilitation from the Faculty IV, with external evaluation by prof. Paul Kelly (Imperial College London, UK) and prof. Saday Sadayappan (Ohio State University, USA). From 2011 to 2015, he was Postdoctoral researcher in the DPS group (headed by prof. Thomas Fahringer) at the University of Innsbruck, Austria, where he contributed to the Insieme Compiler project and the DK-Plus multidisciplinary platform for scientific computing. He received his Ph.D. in March 2011 from the University of Salerno, supervised by prof. Vittorio Scarano; there he received several grants and scholarships (HPC-Europa2, HPC-Europa++, DAAD, Cineca ISCRA) and visited both the HLRS Supercomputing Center and the University of Stuttgart, Germany, under the supervision of prof. Thomas Ertl and Carsten Dachsbacher. He is a technical member of the industry standards body Khronos Group, a member of the Khronos SYCL Working Group, as well as a member of the HiPEAC network, SIGHPC, and a Senior member of both ACM and IEEE.
