Biography
Dr. David Eder is Affiliate Graduate Faculty in Physics and Astronomy Department and Senior Computational Scientist in Information Technology Services Department at the University of Hawaii. He has contributed to 17 SC Tutorials focused on parallel programing languages and HPC applications. While at the Maui High Performance Computing Center run the University of Hawaii he served as a subject matter expert for DoD in Quantum Computing and was program manager for hypersonic vehicle simulations on emerging computing architectures and programming approaches, e.g., OpenMP plus MPI. Prior to Hawaii he was at DOE’s Livermore Lab where he was the head of facility modeling for the world’s largest laser. He is a recipient of the prestigious Alexander von Humbolt Award. Dr. Eder has over 100 publications and 4000 citations. He received a Ph.D. in Astrophysics from Princeton University and a BA in Physics and Math from University of Colorado at Boulder.
