Biography
Bryan is a Senior Technologist in the Advanced Computer Engineering (ACE) Lab at the Center for High Performance Computing, South Africa.

He leads the HPC Ecosystems Project, focusing on repurposing decommissioned tier-1 HPC systems into mid-tier systems for deployment into smaller resource-constrained institutions throughout Africa (currently more than thirty African sites). His team deploys the physical systems and shared software stack, and trains System Administrators to operate these systems (in many cases, this is the site’s first HPC system).

Bryan also serves as a CHPC technical trainer, offering training on HPC technologies and leading outreach initiatives. He lectures Student Cluster Competition participants and teaches Parallel Computing concepts and tools to Scientific Computing researchers and graduate students.

Bryan obtained a Master’s in Computer Science through Georgia Tech’s online program and is using his experience to lead efforts toward developing an HPC-related degree curriculum accessible to South African and regional universities.
