Malachi Phillips received his PhD in Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2023. His research focuses on techniques for preconditioning the Poisson equation on the GPU. During his graduate studies, he assisted in porting many existing Nek5000 features to be GPU-capable in NekRS. He is continuing research on linear solvers and techniques for porting existing scientific software to utilize GPU accelerators as a postdoctoral appointee at Sandia National Laboratories.
