Douglas Ierardi graduated magna cum laude from Yale University with a B.A. in comparative literature and went on to receive an M.S. at the University of Rochester and a Ph.D. at Cornell University, both in computer science. He came to D. E. Shaw Research from Tanner Research, where he worked as a Senior Scientist and manager for the Algorithms group. Prior to Tanner Research, Douglas was a faculty member in the Computer Science Department at the University of Southern California. He has also held teaching and research positions at Princeton University, the University of California, Los Angeles, and the Walt Disney Company.
