Jacques Pienaar is a senior staff software engineer on the OpenXLA/IREE team at Google. Over the last 9 years he has been leading multiple efforts in accelerating and simplifying machine learning for high-performance model deployment across distributed heterogeneous compute platforms at Google. He is a domain expert in compilers for ML and has built multiple compilers and optimization targeting from commodity systems to custom hardware, from edge to data center and across numerous products. He is one of the founders of MLIR as well as XLA and previously led the TensorFlow graph optimization compiler. Jacques has a PhD from Purdue University where he focused on runtimes for heterogeneous platforms as a member of the Integrated Systems Laboratory.
