Biography
Simon Garcia de Gonzalo is a senior member of technical staff in scalable computer architectures and exascale technologies at Sandia National Laboratories (SNL), involved in projects such as: Vanguard Advanced Architecture Prototype program and the Application Performance Team. Before joining Sandia National Laboratories he was a Postdoctorate Researcher at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC). He is one of the main authors of the SC20 best paper which leverages 24,576 GPUs of the Summit supercomputer system. As a PhD student he worked alongside science and engineering teams at National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) to enable effective use of accelerators on the Blue Waters Supercomputer. Simon received his PhD in Computer Science from UIUC in the area of compilers and automatic code generation for GPUs.
