Biography
Apan Qasem is an Associate Professor in the Computer Science Department at Texas State University. He leads the Compilers Research Lab where he and his students are working on a number of projects in the broad area of high-performance computing with an emphasis on developing intelligent compiler techniques for improving programmer productivity, performance and energy efficiency. His research has received has received funding from the National Science Foundation (including a CAREER award in 2013), Department of Energy, Semiconductor Research Consortium (SRC), NVIIDA, AMD, Intel and IBM (including a Faculty Award in 2008). He has co-authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications including four that won best paper awards. He currently serves as his department's Associate Chair. In the past, he has been a Visiting Professor at University of Edinburgh, School of Informatics and a Visiting Scholar at AMD Research. He received his PhD from Rice University.
