Luca Ferrucci
Biography
Luca Ferrucci is a post-doc researcher of the Computer science department of University of Pisa. He obtained his degree in Computer Science at the University of Pisa, Italy, in the field of P2P computing. His PhD thesis, obtained at the Politecnico di Milano, Italy, was related to the field of integration of formal methods in the industry control code development process. He worked in a ISTI-CNR research group on the development and validation of new technical proposals for the evolution of the Italian CEM. He worked in another ISTI-CNR research group on the italian cluster TAV project SHELL, designing an abstract and general model for home automation interoperability. He worked in the HPCLab research group of the ISTI-CNR in two European H2020 projects: ACCORDION and CHARITY. He designed and modeled the architecture of SmartORC, an open source project aims to orchestrate all types of resources of a Federation of Edge devices. SmartORC has been exploited in both projects. Today, he’s working on orchestration and deployment strategies for FaaS and Compute Continuum distributed environments, for the ICSC Italian national project, and Hybrid Cloud/Hpc topics. He’s the author of 20 papers, a book chapter and organized 5 workshops as a chair. He received the Best Paper Award at the 9th International Conference on Software Paradigms Trends in Vienna on August 2014. He won the third prize in the Juniors category at the ROADEF/EURO Challenge 2012: Machine Reassignment, organized by Google.
